Daily Discussions on Contemporary Art Framed Art
Portret.Self-portret.
How popular is Portret or self-portret in nowadays? We know, for example, self-portet of Rembrant van Rijn. In this time, when is very popular digital fotocamera, i think Self-portret or Portret is not so popular like many decades or centuries ago. Portret or Self-portret takes a lot of time from painter and client. And painters can see more features of character what you don't want.
Can computer games ever gain mainstream acceptance as being art?
To those of of us who have grown up playing different genres of computer games across different platforms there is an understanding that there is more to gaming than meets the eye. Some games such as the Zelda or Final Fantasy series to name but a few are deserving of recognition in the portrayal of engaging storylines alongside breathtaking visuals and ingenious gameplay mechanics. This kind of creativity were it seen in other more established media such as film would garner recognition of massive proportions. But as gaming is still stuck with the stigma of being the sole pursuit of spotty teenage loners spending hours on end glued to the tv's in their bedrooms, I ask the question: Can computer games ever gain mainstream acceptance as being art? Discuss.
The greek art
The Greeks produced a civilization which in many ways has never been surpassed0in the world. Of what they accomplished in art little remains, and we are not eve sure that what we have is the best. But what remains has aroused the admiration and astonishment of the world. There is no sculpture comparable to theirs; there are no buildings more beautiful and more admirable than those they built; there are no literary pieces superior to theirs. In fact, in literature they are all supreme- the world has produced no epic poet to compare with homer. No lyric poet to equal pindar. The greeks cultivated prose rather late, but history has no greater practitioner than herodotus and thucydides; and there is no prose, aside, perhaps from the bible, more poetic than that of plato. Of the four great tragic poets the world has produced three are greek; the fourth is shakespeare. Of their painting little has survived. But we have the statement of a contemporary art critic commenting on a paintin of helen of troy by polygnotus. " in her eyes, one could read the story of the Trojan War! "How different was greek art from the known forms of art all over the world in those times and even today!...
Do you like original art with TEXTURE or original art with no texture?
I am an artist, painting Contemporary Art, i love the textures of it and the smell, from all the different meduims that i use, it grows with time and the painting gets more texture with all the layers i add on. You can actualy run your hand over my work and feel it under your skin, all different shapes and points, it feels almost like walking on a beach, with the sand under your feet. Then on the other hand you get art that is flat but texture is painted on, to create a textured effect, when you touch it you dont feel a thing but when you look at it you see a lot. has survived. But we have the statement of a contemporary art critic commenting on a paintin of helen of troy by polygnotus. " in her eyes, one could read the story of the Trojan War! "How different was greek art from the known forms of art all over the world in those times and even today! Egypt produced an art that was unnatural, stiff in its fixity of expression. The egyptian artist were unable to work with freedom. Indian art, on the other hand, was absolutely free, but the results were strange. Consider the famous statue of Siva, an INDIAN god, represented as performing an...
Climate change campaigners strip naked on melting glacier
Nearly 600 volunteers have stripped for the camera on a melting Swiss glacier high in the Alps for a publicity campaign to expose the impact of climate change. The environmental group Greenpeace, which commissioned the photo shoot by world-renowned photographer Spencer Tunick, says the volunteers turned up under blue skies near the foot of the Aletsch glacier, a protected UNESCO World Heritage site.Nicolas de Roten of Greenpeace Switzerland says there are almost 600 people there."It's relatively chilly but that doesn't seem to be disturbing them," he said. The campaign is aimed at drawing attention to melting Alpine glaciers, one clear sign of global warming and of man-made climate change, Greenpeace says.Greenpeace says the human body is as vulnerable as glaciers like the Aletsch in southern Switzerland - which is shrinking by more than 100 metres a year - and the world's environment. The group hopes its billboard and poster campaign showing people exposed to the cold will send a shiver down the spines of the public and politicians, and convince them to do more to tackle pollution and climate change."They'll be used at the right moment for our campaign,...
Investment in Art...............
Earlier art is made for creativity, now art become investment instrument. Now a days every discussion starts about investing in art??? Why so….Many people are planning to invest in art because rapid growth seen in art market over the past few year. Many countries, the art market grown 3-4 percent, studies shown Indian art industry grown 30-40 per cent. Earlier people felt that investment in art will not give good investment, have started investing in art now because of its appreciation.International auction houses such as Christies and Sothebys have recently began to auction contemporary art at higher price.Increasing transparency and professionalism of art market has made many art funds and serious investors wants to invest in art. Arts blossom in Arabian desert
Long derided as a cultural desert, the Persian Gulf art scene is beginning to blossom. Wealthy nationals and homesick expatriates are looking to add "soul" to their shopping lists and the world's major auction houses are upping their presence to meet that demand. From graceful Arabic calligraphy to "Dollar Sign" by American icon Andy Warhol, 190 works of contemporary art went under the hammer at a Christie's auction held this month in Dubai, the commercial hub better known for its glass skyscrapers and sprawling malls than its arts scene.Christie's held the Middle East's first contemporary art auction in Dubai last year. Its second auction of contemporary Arab, Iranian, Indian and Western art drew collectors from India, the Arab world and beyond, and topped the house's own expectations with US$9.4 million in sales."There is very much a sense that Dubai is trying to position itself as a third art market in the world after London and New York.
